People are exhausted! Insomnia is at epidemic levels. And according to the CDC, 1 in 3 adults don’t get enough sleep. Stress, anxiety, counting worries instead of sheep, screen stimulation from tv’s, phones and devices, ambient disruptions in your sleep environment, caffeine, medications, alcohol, nighttime trips to the bathroom, conflicting schedules with housemates, nervous system dysregulation, chronic pain or discomfort; these are many, but not all of the major factors that stop people from experiencing a full and restorative sleep.

Recently, we had the opportunity to sit down with Master Trainer, Nutrition Coach and host of

“The Coaches” Podcast, Royce Laguerta, to converse about many of the conditions listed above and the benefits of establishing a restorative sleep routine to improve your overall health and achieve your fitness goals. Royce is the owner and founder of NVFIT Cross Training in Las Vegas, Nevada and shares our belief that sleep is equally, if not more important to your health and wellbeing as nutrition and exercise.

Royce shares his expertise in fitness and nutrition on his weekly podcast “The Coaches”, to encourage and equip people with the knowledge and tools to practice healthy living. During our recording we discussed the benefits of restorative sleep and how a tool like Sleep Crown can be a introduced into your routine to help you achieve your wellness goals.

We framed our conversation around 4 essential habits for establishing a solid sleep routine, summarized in the acronym R.E.S.T.

R is for Reflection. Reflective practices of rehearsing daily gratitudes, journaling and practicing positive thinking helps reduce stress and certain anxieties.

E is for External Environment. At Sleep Crown we know and consistently share the benefits of creating a safe and relaxing environment. Sleep Crown pillows actually eliminate 2 of the major environmental factors that hinder sleep; light, sound.

S is for Smile. Ending your day with a smile is a master practice that includes rehearsal of gratitudes and indulgence of all the senses. During the podcast we specifically focused on the benefits of sex and how pleasure chemicals such as dopamine and oxytocin are designed to help you Relax, Surrender and Sleep.

T is for Timing. There’s much debate on how many hours a person should sleep nightly. Some experts suggest 9-10 hours. Royce and I talk about how it’s the “intentionality” of establishing a sleep routine that makes the difference and not just “how long” you sleep.
