As a yoga teacher, people always look at me like I know secret things…like I can read their minds or see their aura or have magical information that could unlock the mysteries of the universe. While that may be true (hee hee), there is one thing that I know for sure…sleep is just as important to our overall health as nutrition and exercise. I consider myself a sleep expert.
I have always required a lot of sleep. But more importantly, I have been able to get the sleep I so desperately need. My magic trick? For as long as I can remember I have slept with a pillow over my head. Perfectly insulating myself from anything that would disrupt my sleep. I’ve used the same pillow for the last 25 years at least. I will spare you the sight of it, but as you can imagine…its in pretty rough shape after all this time. After several failed attempts to replace it, I resorted to making my own. There is nothing on the market like it.
I have spent the last 10 years of my work life studying relaxation techniques. One of the best ways to relax the nervous system is to weight the body. There are weighted blankets available, but nothing made specifically for the head.
I decided that I couldn’t hold this sleep secret…that if this idea held such tremendous power for me - I should share it with others.
